VRN-A5 Maintenance Guide
I. Daily Maintenance
1.1 After each use, sterilize all accessories including the handpiece, working tips, torque wrench, and endodontic wrench.
1.2 After each clinical scaling treatment, ensure the water supply is on and operate the device for 30 seconds to clean the handpiece and working tip.
1.3 After treatment, use the wrench to remove the working tip. Wipe the surface of the handpiece and tip with an alcohol swab to remove blood. Rinse the head and connector parts of the handpiece with clean water, then rinse the entire handpiece. After rinsing, use a 3-way syringe to dry it and place it in a sterilization box for further sterilization.
1.4 After treatment, turn off the power to ensure the main unit is fully powered off. Rinse the surface of the tail cord with clean water, dry it with a 3-way syringe, and hang it back on the holder.
II. Periodic Maintenance
2.1 Clean the water inlet regularly and flush the internal water lines. If possible, disassemble and clean the solenoid valve to ensure smooth water flow.
2.2 It is recommended to disassemble and clean the LED light and light rod of the handpiece weekly. Unscrew the front end of the handpiece, clean the front shell, light guide rod, and LED in order, dry them with a 3-way syringe, reassemble, and place in a sterilization box.
III. Sterilization Instructions
3.1 The handpiece, working tips, and wrenches must be sterilized at 134°C using high-temperature, high-pressure autoclaving. Before sterilization, use compressed air to dry any liquid remaining on the handpiece.
3.2 Always remove the working tip from the handpiece before sterilization. Do not mix it with other instruments during sterilization. Check the handpiece regularly for external damage. Do not apply any protective oil to the handpiece surface.
3.3 For alcohol disinfection, soak a clean dry gauze in 75% ethanol solution, wipe the surfaces to be disinfected twice, and allow 3 minutes for action time. Let air-dry naturally or use a clean dry cloth to remove any remaining disinfectant.
IV. Precautions for Use
4.1 Use a non-pressurized water source. The water container should be at least 1 meter higher than the patient’s head.
4.2 Keep the connector area between the handpiece and tail cord dry.
4.3 Do not remove the handpiece while the foot pedal is pressed and the device is vibrating.
4.4 When using the endo irrigation function, it is recommended to start from power level 1 and gradually increase to level 3.
4.5 When installing an endodontic tip, make sure it is securely tightened. Do not apply force during root canal irrigation. Do not step on the foot pedal when the file is not inserted into the canal.
4.6 Do not use disposable or non-compatible working tips. Tips with incorrect threads, rough surfaces, or rust may damage the handpiece and cause irreversible harm to the ultrasonic scaler.
4.7 Strictly prohibited disinfection methods for the handpiece:
Boiling the handpiece in solution
Soaking in iodine, alcohol, glutaraldehyde, or other disinfectants
Heating in ovens or microwave ovens
4.8 Do not pull the tail cord with force during use to avoid disconnection between the handpiece and tail cord.
V. Protection and Storage
5.1 Handle the product carefully during storage. Keep it away from vibration and store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place.
5.2 Do not store the device with toxic, corrosive, flammable, or explosive materials.
5.3 If the product will not be used for a long time, it should be powered on and flushed with water once a month for at least 5 minutes.
5.4 Store the product in an environment with relative humidity not exceeding 90%, and temperature between -20°C and 55°C.
5.5 When not in use, turn off the power switch and unplug the power cord.
